Dead Gorilla, Live Child, Clueless Accusers
I want to say something to those of you who are “outraged” at the death of the Silverback Gorilla that was shot to save a young boy’s life. I’m typing to the people “blaming” the parents. Having worked as a respiratory technician in a mid-size city emergency room for a few years, I know children often get away from good, loving, caring, alert parents for "just a split second." Real life happens.
I would shoot a dozen gorillas to save one human child’s life. I would cry. I would feel good and bad, but I would pull the trigger. The Zoo had NO choice. The end. As for the parents?
"…Then they reminded Jesus that adultery was punishable by stoning under Mosaic law and challenged him to judge the woman so that they might then accuse him of disobeying the law. Jesus thought for a moment and then replied, “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.”

A young Verizon salesman just rang my doorbell, ON MEMORIAL DAY, to tell me about Verizon's new FIOS service. REALLY? I told the kid to tell his supervisor I was outraged that Verizon was sending people door-to-door on MEMORIAL DAY. He looked at me, perplexed, and said "Why?"
Poor kid. Let's just say I explained it in a way I don't think he will have trouble remembering when he relays my feelings to his higher ups. Am I wrong? Am I too sensitive to the meaning of today?
I called Verizon 1-800-922-0204 and got a live person by hitting "0" for an operator. I told the representative to relay my feelings to his supervisor, which he promised to do, and then gave me this address to write to:
Verizon Wireless ATTN: Correspondence Team PO Box 5029 Wallingford, CT 06492
I know stores are open, but should a Company send reps to your DOOR on Christmas day? Hanukka? Memorial Day?

Have you ever noticed metal detecting and gold prospecting club meetings look a lot like, I don't know how to say this any other way, KKK meetings? Any thoughts as to why people of color don't seem interested in either of these pursuits?

Not true Joe. I've tested the prototypes on the beach and the rubber band wrist piece will last at least a year without replacement.
